In recent years, several chains such as Call Your Mother, the Salty Donut and Two Hands have opened on rapidly changing Tennyson Street. But independents are still finding spots in the neighborhood, too. Eloise, a sandwich-centric stop from the owner of Good Bread and Lula Rose, debuted last week. And on December 9, it was announced that a new, locally-owned watering hole is set to debut at 3965 Tennyson Street on January 9 — just in time for Stock Show season. American Lore by Parker Thomas is a saloon-inspired Western whiskey bar that comes from two familiar brands: Hats by Parker Thomas and Number Thirty Eight.

Partnering with the team behind Denver’s largest bar, Number Thirty Eight, American Lore will channel the spirit of cowboy-streetware through a custom boutique hat outfitter paired with a saloon-inspired watering hole. Prescribing to the notion that no one likes expensive beer or cheap whiskey, American Lore will serve a limited, yet highly curated, selection of fine spirits coupled with a no-frills cocktail menu featuring an old-fashioned, an espresso martini, a gin & tonic, and Number Thirty Eight’s fan-favorite Rodeo Lemonade. No neighborhood haunt is complete without cheap beer, and American Lore is serving them for only $4 in classic frosty mugs … oh, and did we mention free bar snacks?

Three Denverites are tipping their hats to Tennyson. American Lore by Parker Thomas is set to open by this fall in a 1,200-square-foot space at 3965 Tennyson St. The half neighborhood bar, half hat-making shop also will have split ownership. The brains behind the bar operation are Spencer Fronk and Andrew Palmquist, co-founders of Number 38, a RiNo bar and restaurant with a sprawling outdoor patio and stage for live music. The face behind the hats will be Parker Orms, a third-generation hat-maker with his own shop in Cherry Creek, Hats by Parker Thomas. “American Lore bar is going to do more of that watering hole,” Fronk said. “Late at night, I can come with a date, have a nice cocktail, have a beer, hang out, go to dinner on Tennyson, and come back and really lean into that sort of more late-night neighborhood haunt.”

American Lore by Parker Thomas, a unique new addition to town, is set to open in the fall. According to The Denver Post, the venue will merge two iconic elements of American culture — a custom hat outfitting business and a Western-inspired whiskey bar — at 3965 North Tennyson St. This venture is a collaboration between Parker Orms, the founder of Hats by Parker Thomas, and Spencer Fronk and Andrew Palmquist, co-founders of Number Thirty Eight, a RiNo-based bar and restaurant. Each will bring their experience to the table to bring the concept to life.
